President Lee hosts foreign envoys for K-barbecue dinner at Cheong Wa Dae

President Lee Jae Myung hosted foreign ambassadors and international organization heads for a K-food banquet dinner at Cheong Wa Dae on Tuesday.

The dinner took place at the Nokjiwon garden and brought together envoys from 112 countries and 18 international bodies, including the United States, Japan and the European Union. The presidential office said the event was organized to brief the foreign envoys on South Korea's foreign policy and recent diplomatic outcomes.

Lee told the guests that "the Republic of Korea participated in the G7 summit for the second consecutive year and is cementing its position as a reliable partner to the international community." He added, "We will continue to work closely with the international community based on the shared values of humankind -- freedom, peace and prosperity."

Moroccan Ambassador Chafik Rachadi, dean of the diplomatic corps, offered a toast. Guests enjoyed samgyeopsal and chimaek, with all ingredients halal-certified and vegan and vegetarian options provided. Tuesday's event was the first dinner hosted by Lee since the presidential office returned to Cheong Wa Dae last December and the second since he took office in June last year.
