The Texas Rangers beat the Seattle Mariners 7-3 on Monday at Globe Life Field. Four home runs off George Kirby powered the win and helped Texas take three of four in the series.
Joc Pederson hit two home runs while Ezequiel Duran and Jake Burger each added one against Kirby. The Rangers built a 7-3 lead through three innings and held on for the victory.
Jake Burger said after the game that the team entered the series determined not to split it. He noted that a 6-4 loss the day before left a bad taste and the club came in to take care of business.
Rangers manager Skip Schumaker praised Pederson in the leadoff spot along with Duran and Burger for their contributions this season. The win extended Texas's lead over Seattle to 2 1/2 games in the American League West.
Joc Pederson called the series victory huge ahead of the trade deadline and said the team put itself in a good spot by going 3-1.
