Jakarta – In an update to the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus (27) on March 12, 2026—which caused severe burns to his face, neck, chest, back, arms, and eye damage—doctors at Rumah Sakit Cipto Mangunkusumo (RSCM) found a leak in the wall of his right eyeball during a third surgery on March 28. RSCM's Legal and Public Relations Manager, Yoga Nara, stated, "During the surgery, the corneal surface was found to be thinning further with a leak in the eyeball wall."
To protect the eye's shape during healing, it was temporarily closed by stitching the eyelid shut, with plans to evaluate after about four months. This follows earlier reports of 40% limbal stem cell damage and prior debridement and grafts. Wounds on the face, front neck, chest, shoulder, and right arm are healing well with new skin grafts, though the back neck requires further treatment next week. Andrie remains psychologically stable with intensive support.
Puspom TNI has charged four Denma BAIS TNI members—First Lieutenant SL, Captain NDP, First Lieutenant BHW, and Second Sergeant ES—with assault. They were detained at Pomdam Jaya Guntur on March 18. TNI Information Center Head Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah confirmed the investigation continues to uncover motives and roles.
