Several road works and projects are underway in central Uppsala during summer 2026 and affect accessibility on multiple streets.
Trafikverket is rebuilding the railway crossings at S:t Persgatan and S:t Olofsgatan into grade-separated crossings. No traffic can pass the crossings. In weeks 27, 28 and 29 the crossing Kungsgatan-S:t Persgatan is also closed to all car and bus traffic. In the block between the railway and Uppsala Konsert och Kongress, office spaces, a restaurant and a hotel are being built. The sidewalk around the block along Vaksalagatan and Storgatan is closed until 2029. Uppsala kommun is turning several streets into summer streets with furniture and plantings until mid-September. Svartbäcksgatan between S:t Olofsgatan and Skolgatan is closed to through traffic. Munkgatan is closed to car and public transport due to cable relocation ahead of the tramway until September 2026. Nedre Slottsgatan to Munkgatan is closed to car traffic between 8 and 26 June 2026. From week 32 Dragarbrunnsgatan is closed to through traffic until March 2027.
