Actor Rupali Ganguly has reposted a video criticizing Alia Bhatt for wearing an animal leather ensemble at Milan Fashion Week 2026. The video, originally shared by activist Sai Lohit, accuses Bhatt of hypocrisy given her animal welfare advocacy. Bhatt has not responded to the renewed criticism.
Rupali Ganguly, known for her stance on animal welfare, shared an Instagram Story reposting a video from March 8 by activist Sai Lohit. The clip targets Alia Bhatt's Gucci outfit from Milan Fashion Week, claiming her car coat, Horsebit bag, and kitten heels were made from calfskin and lambskin leather. Lohit questions Gucci's practices, stating, “Gucci exploits snakes, crocodiles, silkworms, cows, and sheep. Is this what you stand for? Getting innocent animals murdered?” He also criticizes the Horsebit design as symbolizing horse domination tools. Ganguly reposted the video without comment, bringing the nearly two-month-old criticism back into the spotlight. Fashion outlets like Elle and Vogue described Bhatt's look as leather, with Gucci's site listing the bag as “100% Nappa Leather” from sheep or calfskin and the heels as black nappa leather. Bhatt previously told Vogue her ensemble was “very sharp, structured and simple... a really sharp black trench” with matching accessories. Lohit later claimed on March 21 that Bhatt restricted his account after his video gained over 3 million views and tags demanding accountability. He said, “Alia Bhatt is scared. She restricted my video.” Bhatt, founder of sustainable children's brand Ed-a-Mamma, has made no public response to these allegations as of now. The activist has targeted other celebrities in the past, including Sreeleela over camel milk products and Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna for using horses at events.
