Sabastian Sawe to defend title at Berlin marathon

Kenyan marathon world record holder Sabastian Sawe will compete again in Berlin on September 27. He confirmed his participation and said he aims to defend his title from last year.

Sawe won the Berlin marathon last year in 2:02:16 hours despite warm and humid conditions. At the end of April he became the first person to run a marathon in under two hours in a race, clocking 1:59:30 in London.

Berlin race director Mark Milde called Sawe's return a great honor for the event. The city's flat course is considered one of the fastest in the world.

Sawe was cautious about his goals. He said he will prepare as well as possible and see what is achievable on race day. September 27 lies in the future.
