A joint SAR team acted swiftly and successfully evacuated all residents to safe locations on Saturday, December 27, 2025.
Head of the Banjarmasin Search and Rescue Office, I Putu Sudayana, confirmed that the evacuation was completed without any fatalities. "The flood victims were evacuated to the Evacuation Post at Alun-Alun Kota Kandangan, Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency. Based on preliminary data released by the HSS Regency BPBD, the number of residents successfully evacuated reached 2,895 people, with no casualties," he stated.
Despite challenges such as strong water currents and cloudy weather with light rain, the SAR team was not hindered in their rescue efforts. After the evacuation, personnel remained on standby at the main post to monitor any developments. Putu expressed gratitude to all SAR team members involved.
He also emphasized the need for vigilance. "We urge the public to remain alert to potential extreme weather and follow instructions from field officers for collective safety," he said.
The flooding was caused by high-intensity rainfall affecting several regencies in South Kalimantan, including HSS. The SAR operation demonstrated effective coordination among agencies in handling such natural disasters.
