South Korea to host Venezuela, Uzbekistan in October friendlies

The Korea Football Association announced Tuesday that South Korea will host Venezuela and Uzbekistan in men's football friendly matches in October. The games are set for Oct. 2 against Venezuela and Oct. 6 against Uzbekistan.

Venues and kickoff times for the matches will be determined later. The contests fall during the next FIFA international match window, from Sept. 21 to Oct. 6. The association said it is in talks with two potential opponents for September.

South Korea fell seven spots to No. 32 in the latest FIFA rankings. Venezuela is ranked 47th and Uzbekistan dropped to 60th. Historical results between the teams were also noted.

The men's national team head coach position remains vacant after Hong Myung-bo resigned in late June. The association announced last week that it will hire a caretaker manager for the next two FIFA match windows and appoint a full-time boss afterward.
