The documentary «Mit dem Herz in der Hand» about the band Sportfreunde Stiller premiered at Dok.Fest Munich. The world premiere marked an emotional highlight for the musicians on their 30th anniversary.
The 90-minute film humorously and personally traces the story of the three musicians who met at university and the Atomic Café in Munich. It also covers their 2006 performance at the Brandenburg Gate during the football World Cup and the creation of the song «54, 74, 90, 2006».
Bassist Rüdiger Linhof said at the premiere: «Ich habe alles so restlos mit den anderen auskosten können. Das ist das größte Geschenk, das man uns machen kann - das festzuhalten.» The film will be available in the ARD media library from May 28 and broadcast on television on June 12.
To mark the anniversary the band releases a new album titled «Happy Birthday» on June 12. They are currently touring Germany, Austria and Switzerland under the title «30 wunderbaren Jahren», with many concerts sold out.
