Spotify rolls out Talk to Spotify beta feature

Spotify has begun rolling out a new beta feature called Talk to Spotify that lets Premium users interact with the app using voice or text commands. The tool enables creating playlists, learning about songs, and exploring listening history without leaving the app. It is available to users aged 18 and older in the US, Ireland, and Sweden.

The feature works from the Home or Now Playing views on mobile devices. Users can issue commands such as "play some artists I haven't heard before" or "add some Bad Bunny" and ask questions like "what is the inspiration behind Dua Lipa's Radical Optimism?" or "When did I first listen to this song?"

Spotify said in a statement that the tool supports back-and-forth conversations about music, podcasts, and audiobooks. It also provides details on personal listening habits and steers users toward related content.

The beta is rolling out gradually to eligible Premium subscribers on iOS and Android in English. A warning message during testing notes that the AI can make mistakes and advises against sharing sensitive data.
