Tomoyuki Sugano delivered a strong outing to help the Colorado Rockies secure a 5-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday afternoon at American Family Field.
Sugano allowed two runs over 5 1/3 innings while striking out five batters. He gave up solo home runs to Christian Yelich and Brice Turang but walked only one batter in the contest.
The right-hander improved to 10-4 with a 4.69 ERA on the season under his one-year, $5.1 million contract. Sugano relied primarily on a mix of fastball variations, throwing strikes on 55 of his 93 pitches.
The performance comes as the Trade Deadline approaches on Aug. 3, with Sugano drawing interest from other clubs seeking starting pitching depth. Last season he posted a 10-10 record and 4.64 ERA with the Baltimore Orioles.
