Tesla launches Robotaxi service in Miami

Tesla has expanded its autonomous Robotaxi network to Miami, Florida, marking the third US state with active service. The company announced the rollout on July 3 with a geofenced area covering 10 to 14 square miles in central and western parts of the city.

The official Tesla Robotaxi account posted on X, “¿Qué lo que Miami? Robotaxi now available in Miami,” alongside a map of the initial zone. The area targets high-traffic corridors such as the Palmetto Expressway and Tamiami Trail, with some reports indicating inclusion of routes near Miami International Airport.

This marks the latest step in a rollout that began in Austin, Texas, in June 2025, followed by the San Francisco Bay Area later that year. Service later reached Dallas and Houston in April 2026 before the move into Florida.

The Miami geofence remains limited compared with some competitors. Riders within the zone can request rides through the app as Tesla adds vehicles to the local fleet.

Initial reactions on X to Tesla's robotaxi launch in Miami are largely positive, with users excited about the expansion to a third state, sharing videos of driverless rides, and noting the limited geofenced area. Some highlight company transparency, rapid scaling across cities, and bold service inclusion like the airport, while a few compare it neutrally to competitors like Waymo.
