Tesla videos show FSD misuse amid ongoing lawsuits

Tesla has released promotional videos that depict drivers not supervising its Full Self-Driving system, even as the company faces up to $14.5 billion in related lawsuits. The videos include one posted on May 26 showing a driver making espresso and another on June 9 filmed in Denmark where the system violated traffic laws. These clips contradict Tesla's legal argument that drivers must always supervise the technology.

On May 26, Tesla shared a video on X of a driver operating a portable espresso machine while using FSD Supervised, with the caption urging viewers to “Try it yourself.” The post has garnered 5.6 million views.

Two weeks later on June 9, Tesla Europe posted footage celebrating FSD approval in Denmark. Danish newspaper Politiken identified multiple violations in the video near Rådhuspladsen in Copenhagen, including driving in a bus-only lane, an illegal right turn, ignoring a no-entry sign, and traveling on a bicycle path. FDM, Denmark’s automobile association, described the findings as worrying.

Tesla maintains in court that drivers bear responsibility for supervising FSD at all times. This position was tested in February 2026 when a jury awarded $243 million in the Benavides Autopilot crash case. The company now faces dozens of similar suits and an open NHTSA investigation covering 3.2 million vehicles.
