The Chicks appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday to perform their song “Not Ready to Make Nice.” The appearance marked the 20th anniversary of their album Taking the Long Way.
The trio, consisting of Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer, performed the track dressed in red outfits. They were joined by a band and string section, with Maguire contributing fiddle and shared vocals. The song was originally released in 2006 after the group faced backlash for comments about President George W. Bush and the Iraq War. Taking the Long Way earned five Grammy Awards that year, including Album of the Year. The Chicks are scheduled to tour this fall in smaller venues across the United States to celebrate the album anniversary. The run begins in Detroit and includes stops in Chicago, New York and San Antonio.
