TikTok launches election hub in Ethiopia ahead of vote

TikTok has introduced an in-app Election Centre in Amharic for Ethiopia’s general election scheduled for 1 June 2026.

The platform developed the centre in partnership with the National Election Board of Ethiopia. It offers details on voting procedures, key dates and ways to identify false information.

TikTok’s election taskforce is supported by moderation tools and local language moderators. The company prohibits misleading content and paid political advertising.

In the fourth quarter of 2025 TikTok removed more than 1.8 million videos in Ethiopia that violated its guidelines. It also partnered with Code for Africa and trained journalists alongside the Editors Guild of Ethiopia.
