VC announces further Lufthansa pilots' strikes for Thursday and Friday

In the ongoing tariff dispute, the pilots' union Vereinigung Cockpit (VC) has announced additional strikes at Lufthansa, CityLine, Lufthansa Cargo, and Eurowings. The walkouts are planned for Thursday and Friday, impacting flights from German airports except those to the Near East. VC proposes binding arbitration to resolve the deadlock.

This continues a series of pilot actions, including strikes on March 12-13 and recent cancellations on Monday and Tuesday that scrapped hundreds of flights at Frankfurt and Munich.

VC President Andreas Pinheiro stated: "The situation is unchanged – there is no movement from the employers. Neither is there an offer on occupational pensions from Lufthansa and Lufthansa Cargo, nor a viable offer for a new pay tariff agreement from Lufthansa CityLine or on occupational pensions from Eurowings."

The union calls for an independent arbitration procedure. A Lufthansa spokesperson confirmed readiness for arbitration on all issues.

Strikes target Deutsche Lufthansa AG, Lufthansa Cargo, and CityLine on Thursday and Friday; Eurowings from Thursday 00:01 to Friday 23:59. Affected: flights departing German airports, excluding Near East routes.

Meanwhile, UFO cabin crew plan strikes on Wednesday and Thursday. On Wednesday, Lufthansa marks its 100th anniversary with a ceremony attended by Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder (CDU); unions will rally outside headquarters at Frankfurt Airport.
