Wes Borland Opens Up About Sam Rivers' Death

Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland has spoken publicly about the death of bassist Sam Rivers nearly six months after it occurred. Borland described Rivers as irreplaceable and said the band lost a piece of its DNA. The comments came in a new interview with Consequence.

Borland said he remains very emotional about the loss and struggles to discuss it in depth. "He was like family," he explained. "I'm gonna try not to cry. It's just like we lost a piece of our DNA."

Rivers died at age 48 last October. He co-founded the band in 1994. Frontman Fred Durst and the group issued tributes at the time, calling Rivers a once-in-a-lifetime human whose spirit would live on in the band's music.

Borland noted that the band was in shock initially but is now grieving. Touring bassist Richie Buxton has filled in since the death. Limp Bizkit continues its festival schedule this summer.
