White House-backed Moms.gov launches as a federal hub for pregnancy and parenting resources

Imethibitishwa ukweli

The White House has promoted the launch of Moms.gov, a federal website that directs users to pregnancy support services, federally qualified health centers, and government health guidance for people who are pregnant or planning a pregnancy.

Moms.gov describes itself as providing “resources, information, and help for new and expecting mothers,” and says it is aimed at “mothers and fathers who face difficult or unexpected pregnancies.”

The site includes a section that directs users to tools for finding pregnancy centers and federally qualified health centers (FQHCs). For pregnancy centers, Moms.gov links out to Option Line’s “Find Pregnancy Centers Near You.” For FQHCs, it links to the federal Health Resources and Services Administration’s “Find a Health Center” locator.

Moms.gov also contains nutrition and health information. It points users to the federal “Dietary Guidelines for Americans” and includes pregnancy-related nutrition notes, including a reference to CDC guidance that women should get 400 micrograms of folic acid daily. The website also links to CDC pages covering pregnancy-related recommendations and risks, including topics such as infections, substance use, and pregnancy-related health conditions.

The Daily Wire reported that the White House framed the launch as a Mother’s Day initiative and as part of a broader policy contrast with the Biden administration’s ReproductiveRights.gov website. The White House statement quoted by The Daily Wire uses the same “difficult or unexpected pregnancies” language that appears on Moms.gov.
