Located about 155 kilometers northeast of Seoul, the fire was put out after 16 hours, with the main flames doused by 10:20 a.m., affecting 22.5 hectares of forest in total.
According to firefighting and forestry authorities, 26 helicopters were dispatched to the site successively immediately after sunrise. On the ground, more than 100 pieces of equipment and 326 personnel were mobilized to battle the blaze. Earlier reports indicated that over 70 percent of the fire had been extinguished by 7 a.m., with 20 hectares affected at that time, but the final figure was confirmed as 22.5 hectares.
The number of helicopters was initially reported as 25 but updated to 26 in the latest account. No casualties were reported. This wildfire was a single incident in Yangyang's forested area, contained through swift response to prevent further spread.
