Wisconsin man sentenced to life for killing Milwaukee officer

A Milwaukee man has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of extended supervision for killing a police officer and wounding another during a shooting last year.

Tremaine Jones, 23, received the sentence for first-degree intentional homicide in the death of 32-year-old Milwaukee Police Officer Kendall Corder. He was also ordered to serve an additional 83 years for attempted first-degree intentional homicide and related charges.

The shooting occurred on June 26, 2025, after a fight broke out between two women in the area of North 25th Street and West Garfield Avenue. Jones arrived at the scene with a short-barreled rifle and fired 16 shots at officers responding to the disturbance.

Officer Corder was struck and later died at Froedtert Hospital. His partner was wounded but released after treatment. In a letter read by his defense attorney, Jones expressed remorse and said he was intoxicated at the time.

Jones intends to pursue post-conviction relief, according to court records.
