Swiss club ZSC Lions has appointed former NHL coach Claude Julien as its new head coach for the next two years. The 66-year-old won the Stanley Cup with Boston in 2011.
ZSC Lions from Zürich announced the hiring of Canadian coach Claude Julien on June 3. He previously led teams including Montreal, New Jersey and Boston, coaching more than 1,000 NHL games as head coach. Julien also won Olympic gold and the World Cup with Canada. Sportchef Sven Leuenberger praised Julien's experience and defensive style. 'He creates a good relationship with the players while holding them accountable,' Leuenberger said. Julien will be joined by assistant René Matte. The club already employs Swedish goaltending coach Magnus Wennström, while forwards Jesper Frödén and Malte Strömwall play for the team.
