50 Cent's Fightland boxing drama heads to Sky this year

Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson is producing a new British boxing drama called Fightland, set to premiere on Sky later this year in collaboration with Starz. The series follows a disgraced champion's quest for revenge in London's underworld. It features a cast led by Howard Charles and promises a story of redemption and ambition.

Fightland, an upcoming series from Power producer Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson, will arrive on Sky later in 2024 through a partnership with Starz. The drama centers on Maduka 'Duke' Kilroy, a former boxing champion who, after serving time in prison, returns to London seeking retribution against a crime family he holds responsible for his downfall. Described as a gripping tale of redemption, betrayal, and brutal ambition both inside and outside the boxing ring, it explores the high-stakes world of British boxing intertwined with gambling and organized crime.

Howard Charles, known for his role in Top Boy, stars as Duke Kilroy. He faces off against Nicholas Pinnock, who plays Kingsley Marshall, a Jamaican kingpin controlling London's boxing and gambling scenes in the series Hedda. The ensemble cast includes Deborah Ayorinde as Kingsley's wife Joy, Charles Babalola as their son Ezekiel 'Zeek' Marshall, Anita-Joy Uwajeh as daughter Cebella 'Cece', Tahirah Sharif as ring card girl Kim Harper, Tyler Conti as Duke's friend Justin 'Jay' Hall, and Richard Pepple as Duke's estranged father Gary 'Gazzer' Kilroy, who operates an amateur boxing gym in Streatham.

Behind the scenes, Damione Macedon and Raphael Jackson Jr., who worked with Jackson on Power and BMF, serve as showrunners and executive producers. Sky's Group Director of Acquisitions, Katie Keenan, praised the project as "a bold and compelling British production with a distinctive voice and the potential for true global impact." She added, "We are proud to partner with STARZ to continue offering premium, character-driven storytelling for our customers. This series is a natural fit for our growing Sky audiences who are drawn to ambitious, high-impact drama."

Starz President of Original Programming, Kathryn Busby, expressed enthusiasm: "We’re thrilled to be stepping back in the ring with our partners at Sky and look forward to building upon the next chapter of our long-standing creative collaboration together. Fightland delivers a dynamic blend of action and fearless, character-driven storytelling set against the vibrant backdrop of British boxing. We’re proud to debut this bold drama as our first-fully owned original series."
