ABC has renewed the crime drama Will Trent for a fifth season. The Ramón Rodríguez-led series, based on Karin Slaughter's novels, received the pickup 15 weeks into its fourth season's 18-episode run. New episodes of season 4 continue Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
GBI Special Agent Will Trent will return for more cases. TVLine has learned of the renewal, which ensures the show's continuation beyond its current season wrapping on May 5. The series follows Will, who was abandoned at birth and raised in Atlanta's foster care system, now boasting the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's highest clearance rate through his unique perspective on justice. Ramón Rodríguez stars as Will and executive produces, joined by Erika Christensen as Angie Polaski, Iantha Richardson as Faith Mitchell, Jake McLaughlin as Michael Ormewood, Sonja Sohn as Amanda Wagner, Kevin Daniels as Franklin Wilks, and Bluebell the Chihuahua as Betty. Recurring roles feature Scott Foley as Dr. Seth McDale and Cora Lu Tran as pet sitter Nico. This renewal adds Will Trent to ABC's list of pickups for the 2026-27 season, including 9-1-1 for season 10, 9-1-1: Nashville for season 2, Abbott Elementary for season 6, Grey's Anatomy for season 23, High Potential for season 3, and The Rookie for season 9. Decisions remain pending for R.J. Decker, whose season 1 finale airs April 28; the Scrubs revival, wrapping April 15; and Shifting Gears, which ended season 2 on February 4.
