CBS released a sneak peek for the landmark 500th episode of NCIS, airing March 24 at 8 p.m. ET. In the video, Director Vance informs the team that NCIS is being shut down, prompting shock among agents.
The teaser for NCIS's 500th episode, set to air next Tuesday, March 24 at 8 p.m., depicts a major crisis for the Major Case Response Team. Director Vance delivers the grim news: “NCIS is being shut down.” Agents McGee and Torres appear confused, while Jimmy Palmer questions, “What's it going to cost this country if we're gone?” Vance responds firmly, “This is still my agency. I'm not gonna let it end this way.” This plot point builds on the previous episode, where Vance told Parker that NCIS would face the axe instead of absorbing CID. The official logline states: “When the son of a Marine that Gibbs once helped comes to NCIS in desperation, the fractured team reunites off the books. But chasing justice without a badge may cost them more than their careers.” Showrunner Steven D. Binder told TVLine, “We're going big. We're gonna have some really great twists and turns.” He added that the episode will “change everything about this show in some degree” and include “a lot of fun Easter eggs” for longtime fans. Despite the teaser’s drama, NCIS continues with seven more episodes in Season 23, ending May 12, and was renewed for Season 24 in January.
