Felix Auger-Aliassime and Jiri Lehecka have both decided to split from their coaches of nearly a decade following early exits at Wimbledon. The announcements came minutes apart on July 10.
Auger-Aliassime ended his partnership with Frederic Fontang after almost 10 years. The Canadian lost to Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals by a score of 7-6, 3-6, 6-3, 6-7, 7-6. In an Instagram post he thanked Fontang for guiding his development since age 16.
Lehecka parted ways with Michal Navrátil after eight years together. The Czech player was defeated by Alexander Zverev in the round of 16 with a final score of 6-4, 7-5, 3-6, 7-6. He posted that the eight years included hard work, victories and defeats that all had their purpose.
Both players are now preparing for the hard-court season without their former coaches. Lehecka is expected to remain outside the top 10 in the rankings after Wimbledon concludes.
