Authorities confirm massacre in rural Suaza

At least three men died in an armed attack last night in the rural area of Suaza municipality, Huila. The incident, attributed to FARC dissidents, took place in the La Unión vereda. Authorities are investigating in a border area with Caquetá.

The armed attack occurred in the La Unión vereda, one hour from Suaza's urban center, in a border area with the Caquetá department.

The victims, whose identities are unknown at this time, were attacked in a liquor sales establishment. The incident has been attributed to FARC dissidents, though authorities have not provided further details on the perpetrators.

The Technical Investigation Corps (CTI) of the Attorney General's Office is conducting urgent actions at the scene to clarify the facts. Suaza, a municipality in southern Huila, has been a scene of violence related to armed groups in the past, given its strategic location near the border with Caquetá.

This incident highlights the persistence of violence in rural areas of Colombia, where FARC dissidents continue to operate despite peace efforts. Authorities have strengthened police presence in the region to prevent further similar acts.
