The Atlanta Braves are among teams showing interest in acquiring Boston Red Sox pitcher Sonny Gray ahead of the 2026 MLB trade deadline. Gray is enjoying a strong season with a 2.61 ERA. The Red Sox, however, have climbed closer to a wild card spot and may not sell.
The Braves have interest in Gray if the Red Sox decide to sell at the Aug. 3 deadline, according to reports. Gray, 36, holds a full no-trade clause but could find a move to Atlanta appealing due to its proximity to his Nashville home and the team's likely postseason contention.
Boston improved to within three games of a wild card spot after winning five straight games, including a 5-0 victory over the White Sox on Wednesday. Gray is scheduled to start Friday against the Mets and has posted eight consecutive quality starts.
Separately, the Houston Astros have ruled out trading slugger Yordan Alvarez. The team is instead seeking left-handed hitting outfield help, with reported interest in Colorado's Mickey Moniak and Jake McCarthy.
Additional rumors include potential interest in Padres reliever Mason Miller and Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers from multiple clubs.
