Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom will shut down for an extensive update beginning July 6, 2026. The attraction is scheduled to reopen sometime in 2027 with new scenes and a figure of Walt Disney.
The closure affects one of the park’s classic Tomorrowland attractions. Disney has confirmed that work will begin on July 6, 2026, marking the first major refurbishment since 1994.
The updated show will feature new time periods, including the summer of 1969, Halloween 1985, and New Year’s Eve 1999. A fourth scene will depict a future setting with robots and space travel.
A new Audio-Animatronic figure of Walt Disney will appear for the first time at Walt Disney World. The attraction will retain its theme song, “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow,” along with many original props and effects.
