CGT organizes federal march and strategic plan without date for national strike

The Confederación General del Trabajo announced a joint action table and a major federal march with other sectors, without setting the date for a national strike against Javier Milei's policies.

The labor central made the decision after a meeting of more than four hours of the Consejo Directivo. Triumvir Jorge Sola explained that the goal is to build a plan of struggle that leads to a general strike with mobilization, but the date will respond to tactical and strategic criteria.

Sola rejected that it is a “paro a la francesa” and clarified that the strategy seeks to add union organizations, people with disabilities, university workers, health professionals and retirees. The CGT will also convene its regional bodies and a plenary of general secretaries.

The announcement is part of the continuity of actions started more than two years ago, which already included four general strikes and more than fifteen mobilizations. In addition, the CGT described the official project on holdouts as unconstitutional.

CNTE representatives stated they will continue their national strike and mobilizations in the capital during the 2026 World Cup without any withdrawal.

Leaders from CGT and CTAs support Buenos Aires Governor Axel Kicillof's presidential bid for 2027. They met in La Plata on Monday to address the loss of provincial labor oversight due to national labor reform. Kicillof called the government's actions unconstitutional.
