Charley Hull carded a 65 on Saturday to climb the leaderboard at the U.S. Women's Open at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California.
Hull adopted an aggressive approach after struggling with her putter in the first two rounds. She said she decided to go at every pin with a simple mentality. “I played really decent actually the first two days — tee to green,” Hull said. “Just couldn’t get a putt, so kind of just stuck in there and just went at everything today and just thought, f—k it.” The round included seven birdies and one bogey. It marked the lowest score of the week so far and left her a few shots off the lead with one round remaining. Hull has dealt with inconsistent results this season after winning in February and reaching world number three. She credited time with her cousin for helping her stay relaxed during the tournament.
