Connecticut man charged with murdering Bumble date

A Connecticut man has been arrested and charged with the murder of a woman he met on the Bumble dating app. Cole Werhan, 28, was taken into custody on Tuesday after police investigated the March death of 26-year-old Janina Brooke Murphy.

Werhan called police to his home in Burlington on March 29, claiming Murphy had fallen down the stairs during an argument. Officers found her body under a blanket in the living room and pronounced her dead shortly before midnight.

An arrest warrant detailed blood found throughout the house and questioned Werhan's account after he showed a swollen hand. The warrant also described a pattern of alleged abuse against other women Werhan met on Bumble and Hinge.

Werhan faces additional charges from three prior incidents involving women he dated through the apps. A judge set his bond at $5 million during a court appearance on Wednesday, and he is scheduled to appear again on June 30.
