Danganronpa 2x2 delayed to early 2027 with new scenario

Spike Chunsoft announced a delay for Danganronpa 2x2 during its Anime Expo 2026 panel. The remake now targets an early 2027 release instead of 2026. A new scenario was also revealed as the project's main focus.

The studio detailed The Slayhem Scenario, a brand new story featuring the same characters. Written in collaboration with series creator Kazutaka Kodaka, it runs 20 percent longer than the original campaign. Players can access it from the start, though the team recommends completing the main story first.

Danganronpa 2x2 includes a fresh coat of paint and gameplay adjustments such as a complete overhaul of the world map. The delay was described as slight, shifting the title from its planned 2026 window.

Kodaka suggested that fans concerned about the wait could play Grand Theft Auto VI, The Hundred Line, or Shuten Order to pass the time. The announcement received a positive response from attendees at the panel.
