Djurgården signs Nikolas Brouillard to strengthen defense

Djurgården has added Nikolas Brouillard to its roster as the final piece on the blue line. Head coach Robert Kimby shared his thoughts on the 31-year-old AHL veteran and addressed ongoing questions about the center position.

Djurgården completed its defensive lineup with the signing of Nikolas Brouillard. The player brings nearly 400 AHL games and a 0.5 points-per-game average over seven seasons.

Kimby described Brouillard as an offensive-minded two-way defenseman with strong skating and puck-handling skills. He noted that the acquisition fills the spot left by Joey LaLeggia, who led the team with 40 points last season, though Brouillard offers a different profile.

Power-play responsibilities are expected to shift to Lucas Carlsson and Colby Sissons. Kimby added that multiple defensemen will be relied upon to contribute across all situations.

On the center group, Kimby expressed confidence in Lukas Vejdemo, Håvard Östrem Salsten and Jacob Josefson. He said the team hopes Viggo Björck remains but acknowledged that Winnipeg Jets draft developments have introduced new factors.
