Elias Rosén joins Modo for new start after Växjö exit

Defenseman Elias Rosén has left Växjö Lakers in the SHL and signed with Modo in HockeyAllsvenskan. The 24-year-old seeks more playing time and renewed enjoyment in the game following a difficult season.

Rosén ended his contract with Växjö after returning to Swedish hockey in the 2023/2024 season. He had extended his deal by two years in spring 2025 but saw limited ice time and a reduced role during the most recent campaign.

He described the period as tough yet remained focused on supporting the team. After the season, both sides agreed to part ways, leading to talks with Modo.

Rosén cited positive early discussions with sports director Henrik Gradin and new head coach Mikael Karlberg. He views the move as an opportunity for development rather than a setback.

"I need this," he told Expressen. "Modo is such a good club that they should be in the SHL. Everything I can do here will be good for me."
