Östersund announced defenseman Erik Flood as its first signing for the 2026/27 HockeyAllsvenskan season. The player, who spent last season in Slovakia, has previously played for Kristianstad, Vita Hästen, AIK and Västerås in the league. Flood has inked a two-year deal with the club.
Östersund unveiled Erik Flood as its initial acquisition ahead of the upcoming campaign. The defenseman returns to Sweden after a stint in Slovakia, bringing experience from multiple HockeyAllsvenskan teams including Kristianstad, Vita Hästen, AIK and Västerås. During his junior career, Flood primarily developed with Modo, with additional time at Hedemora and Leksand. Sports director Rasmus Aro expressed enthusiasm about the addition to the club's website. “It feels very exciting to bring Erik to us,” Aro said. “He is a defenseman with great offensive qualities, skilled with the puck and good at initiating play in the build-up phase. Moreover, he is a very appreciated person who always gives 100% for the team.” Flood shared his excitement about joining Östersunds IK. “It feels very fun and inspiring to have signed for Östersunds IK,” he said. “I think the team played fast and entertaining hockey last season. The club took big steps in the right direction and is on an exciting journey that I really want to be part of.” The signing marks an early move for Östersund as it builds for the new season.
