Google and Samsung team up with Gentle Monster for AI glasses

Google and Samsung have partnered with South Korean eyewear label Gentle Monster to release smart glasses this fall. The collaboration combines fashion design with artificial intelligence features powered by Google.

The new glasses feature an all-black cat-eye frame. Samsung supplies two cameras positioned discreetly on the sides of the frames. Google contributes its Gemini AI, which lets wearers send messages, translate text, and navigate without using a phone.

The smart glasses market experienced a 139% year-over-year growth in the second half of 2025, driven largely by Meta's AI-enabled products. Meta captured 82% of shipments, with AI glasses making up 88% of the total. This surge highlights the rising popularity of advanced eyewear, though prices remain a barrier.

Google announced two new travel tools on Friday: a hotel price tracking feature and an AI assistant in Gemini to locate forgotten packing items. The updates build on existing services like Google Flights and AI Mode. They aim to help users save money and handle travel mishaps.

A class-action lawsuit has been filed against Meta, accusing the company of misleading consumers about the privacy features of its Ray-Ban smart glasses. The suit follows a Swedish report revealing that contractors in Kenya reviewed sensitive footage captured by the devices, including bathroom use and intimate moments. Meta has confirmed using human reviewers for some data but claims privacy protections are in place.
