Justin Bieber, Madonna, and Shakira performed at the first-ever FIFA World Cup halftime show during the final between Argentina and Spain. The event took place on Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Bieber sang a stripped-back version of his song “Everything Hallelujah” while wearing pieces from his SKYLRK brand. These included a custom deconstructed green shirt, baggy denim shorts, and new Matter Daddy sneakers.
Madonna opened the show with “Music” and “Bring Your Love” in a custom Saint Laurent outfit covered in Swarovski crystals. Her look featured a bleached purple jacket, corset, short-shorts, and crystal-embellished goalkeeper-style gloves.
Shakira performed “Dai Dai” in a Roberto Cavalli design with an orange sunset and pink color scheme. The plunging dress included over 200,000 hand-applied Swarovski crystals and referenced her 2010 World Cup performance.
Stylists for both Madonna and Shakira drew inspiration from athletic wear and the performers’ past styles. The show also featured BTS and Coldplay.
