Chicago designer Joe Freshgoods has shared a first look at his upcoming project with New Balance on the new 1890 silhouette. The sneakers appeared in an Instagram photo dump, featuring a vibrant red and orange base with black overlays and yellow accents. The model draws inspiration from Y2K-era designs.
Joe Freshgoods posted the teaser on Instagram amid a photo dump that included a camouflage Louis Vuitton suitcase topped with his signature sherpa hat. Four pairs of the collaborative sneakers protrude from the side, revealing their heels stamped with the '1890' logo, standard New Balance branding, and a custom JFG emblem. Only limited angles are visible, highlighting the bold colorway of red and orange hues contrasted by black structural elements and yellow details. The designer, known for his projects with New Balance, kept details sparse but signaled more to come soon. The New Balance 1890 is a recent addition to the brand's lineup, previously featured in a collaboration with rapper Action Bronson. It blends the upper design of the retro 890v3 with the tooling from the 2002 performance runner, evoking Y2K aesthetics. No release date or pricing has been announced, though Freshgoods' past teasers have led to quick drops later in the year.
