Jose Martinez claims Titled Tuesday victory

GM Jose Martinez won the June 30 Titled Tuesday chess tournament with an undefeated 10/11 score. He finished half a point ahead of the field for his second win in six weeks.

Martinez started strongly with a 5/5 score after the first five rounds. Notable moves included 35.f5!! against GM Alex Rustemov in round three.

He maintained the lead after draws in later rounds and key wins. In round 10 against GM Levon Aronian, Martinez overcame a difficult position to win on time.

Five players reached nine points. GM Fabiano Caruana took second place on tiebreaks ahead of Aronian.

All final-round games on the top boards ended in draws, confirming Martinez's outright victory.
