Lazavik wins opening 3 0 Thursday event

GM Denis Lazavik claimed victory in the first of three 3 0 Thursday tournaments held on June 4. He scored 10 points to finish clear first after winning his initial eight games. Two other titled players also secured titles in the remaining events that day.

Lazavik followed his Titled Tuesday win earlier in the week by repeating the 10-point score. He drew twice and won once after the opening streak. GM Oleksandr Bortnyk finished second with 9.5 points after a loss to Lazavik in round seven. In the second tournament GM Christopher Yoo took first on tiebreaks after both he and GM Jonas Buhl Bjerre reached 9 points. FM Havard Haug led until the final round but lost and ended fourth. IM Renato Terry captured the third event for his 14th career 3 0 Thursday title. He defeated GM Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son in the last round to reach nine points and overtake GM Benjamin Bok on tiebreaks.
