Keiser University track teams gear up for Sun Conference indoor championship

The Keiser University men's and women's indoor track and field teams are set to compete in the Sun Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship this Friday and Saturday at the Alachua County Sports & Events Center in Gainesville, Florida. Both squads enter with momentum from recent school records and national qualifying standards. They aim to translate regular-season performances into conference titles.

The championship kicks off at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 20, and continues through Saturday, February 21, 2026, featuring a full slate of running and field events for both the men's and women's teams from Keiser University, known as the Seahawks. The women's team has built strong momentum in the throws, with Niesha Aldajuste setting a school record in the weight throw at 17.64m and achieving the NAIA A standard. Trinity Dorvil has shown continued development in the throws group, while Elizabeth Butrica recently established a school record in the pole vault. Makiya Thornton has been consistent in the long and triple jumps, Camille Romero has improved in the 800 meters, Romee Van Dam remains a key hurdler, and Eva Vrancken leads the distance group with personal-best performances throughout the indoor season. The Seahawks seek to convert these achievements into team points and conference honors. For the men's team, highlights include Casey Wood's new school record in the shot put at 16.27m, meeting the NAIA B standard, following a record-setting outing at the Visit Gainesville Indoor Classic. Braylen Jones achieved the NAIA B standard in the triple jump earlier this season, Jesse Songo recently won the 5,000 meters and excels in distance events, Adrian Rivadulla provides strength in middle-distance races, and Dallas Desouza has performed well in the 400 meters. The team anticipates contributions in relays and sprints to bolster their depth. Friday's schedule for the women includes the pentathlon 60m hurdles at 10:00 a.m., 400m dash at 1:00 p.m., and field events like high jump at 2:00 p.m. and shot put at 5:00 p.m. Men's events start with the heptathlon 60m dash at 10:10 a.m., followed by the 400m dash at 1:20 p.m. and pole vault at 2:00 p.m. Saturday features finals in sprints, relays, and additional field events such as weight throw at 10:00 a.m. for both teams. With titles and postseason positioning at stake, Keiser aims to capitalize on their preparations.
