Kelela mines indie rock past for third album New Avatar

Kelela is incorporating guitars and elements from her early indie rock experiences into her third album, New Avatar.

The artist, now recognized for blending R&B and electronic music, began her career as an indie musician. She wrote her first song while living in a punk house.

New Avatar draws directly from that period, described as one marked by both revelation and alienation.

Kelela brings on the guitars to explore these roots in the new project.
