The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) issued a traffic advisory dated March 19, 2026, announcing that the Mai Mahiu-Suswa-Narok (B7) Road experienced flooding and silt deposition at Kedong Ranch near Suswa due to heavy rains. > KeNHA wishes to notify motorists that this evening, the Mai Mahiu-Suswa-Narok (B7) Road experienced flooding and silt deposition at Kedong Ranch near Suswa. Response teams have been dispatched and are on the ground clearing debris to restore normal traffic flow. KeNHA cautioned motorists against attempting to drive through flooded sections, warning that vehicles could be swept away. > The Authority is currently working to reopen the affected section of the road. Motorists are advised to avoid driving through flooded areas. The authority provided three alternative routes: - Ngong - Suswa - Nairobi - Naivasha - Nakuru - Mau Narok - Narok - Nairobi - Naivasha - Longonot - Suswa Drivers were urged to follow directions from police officers and traffic marshals deployed in the area. Continued rainfall has worsened conditions particularly between Naivasha ICD and Suswa Ranch. Travellers who have not started their journeys are encouraged to delay until floodwaters subside. > Motorists who have not yet commenced their journeys are advised to delay travel until floodwaters subside. Where travel is unavoidable, motorists may consider using the alternative routes. KeNHA reassured the public it is working around the clock to reopen the section and ensure road user safety.
