The Corruption Eradication Commission has opened the possibility of examining former Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi after seizing hundreds of millions of rupiah from his former expert staff member Robby Kurniawan.
KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto stated that the possibility of examining Budi Karya Sumadi certainly exists. The remark was made in Serang, Banten, on Thursday, 21 May 2026.
Budi Karya Sumadi was last questioned by the KPK as a witness on 9 March 2026. The seizure of money from Robby Kurniawan was announced by the KPK on 19 May 2026.
The case originated from a sting operation in April 2023 at the DJKA Railway Engineering Center. By January 2026, the KPK had named 21 suspects and two corporations linked to railway track projects in several regions.
