Kyle Fletcher captures AEW International title amid extreme humidity

Kyle Fletcher defeated Konosuke Takeshita to win the AEW International Championship during the Beach Break edition of AEW Dynamite in Clearwater, Florida. The victory came in conditions Fletcher described as the hottest and most humid he has ever wrestled in.

Fletcher documented the match day on his YouTube channel Protolog, noting the oppressive heat before the bout. "I literally feel it dripping, and I haven't done anything yet," he said. He added that the humidity was so intense that people had warned about it the previous week.

After the win Fletcher called the match one of the toughest of his career. He has already defended the title once against Komander on the July 15 episode of Dynamite and is scheduled to face Bandido at the AEW Redemption 2026 pay-per-view on July 26.

Fletcher also revealed a health scare after his July 2 match with El Phantasmo on AEW Collision, when he experienced dry heaving from stress, fatigue, and dehydration rather than injury. He said similar symptoms briefly returned during and after the title match but that doctors believe the reactions are mental rather than physical.
