On Saturday, December 13, 2025, police received an alert at 14:22 about a shooting in Alby, Botkyrka, south of Stockholm. A man and a woman were shot at near the entrance to a multi-family building, but only the man was hit by gunfire and taken to hospital. The woman sustained no injuries requiring medical treatment and will be interviewed by police.
Officers arrived quickly and arrested the suspected perpetrator, who was still at the scene. "It happens very quickly and we can arrest him. He also has injuries. It doesn't seem to be gunshot wounds but other kinds of injuries," says police spokesperson Daniel Wikdahl. Both men were conscious and talkative when transported to hospital. The suspect appears to have been assaulted in another manner.
The alert was made by both the victims and members of the public. "It's the victims who call and then also the public who raises the alarm," Wikdahl explains. Police are now working at the crime scene and conducting witness interviews. "We're focusing on the crime scene and trying to hold interviews with witnesses," he adds.
Due to the incident, SL has halted subway service to Alby and is directing passengers to nearby stations. The event is being investigated as attempted murder, with the man's injury described as some form of gunshot wound.
