Microsoft rolls out Xbox mode to Windows 11 PCs

Microsoft has begun rolling out Xbox mode to Windows 11 devices, including laptops, desktops, and tablets. The controller-optimized interface, first debuted on the Asus ROG Ally X handheld, provides a console-like full-screen experience. The rollout is gradual across select users and markets.

Microsoft started deploying Xbox mode to Windows 11 PCs on May 1, fulfilling a promise made in March. The feature delivers an aggregated game library for easy browsing and launching of titles from Xbox Game Pass and various PC storefronts. Users can access the Xbox Game Bar overlay and switch seamlessly between Xbox mode and the standard Windows 11 interface. The mode, which launched initially on the Asus ROG Ally X handheld, has been refined across devices based on feedback. Microsoft emphasized that it is releasing the update gradually to ensure a high-quality experience for users in different regions. To receive the update promptly, users should enable 'Get the latest updates as soon as they are available' in Windows Update settings. Once installed, Xbox mode becomes accessible immediately. The company plans to continue improving the feature as more users provide input.
