Pro Football Talk analyst Mike Florio has called out the Pittsburgh Steelers for maintaining substandard grass conditions at their stadium.
Florio made the comments during a Wednesday appearance on 93.7 The Fan. He said the team has tried to install grass on the cheap and must make a greater investment.
Florio rejected excuses tied to Pittsburgh's climate. He noted that Green Bay maintains better fields despite similar weather.
The Steelers have used grass since Heinz Field opened in 2001. The surface has drawn repeated criticism, including after an incident last year when safety Miles Killebrew tore his ACL and quarterback Aaron Rodgers highlighted unsafe conditions.
The team installed new grass ahead of the 2026 season. Florio's remarks come as the World Cup has spotlighted player preferences for natural surfaces over turf.
