The Committee of Ministers rejected claims against two investment initiatives worth US$1.51 billion, maintaining their environmental qualification resolutions.
The Committee of Ministers met on Tuesday and rejected the claims filed against the HVDC Kimal–Lo Aguirre Electrical Transmission Line and the Copiapó River Fluvial Works in Tierra Amarilla. Both initiatives total US$1.51 billion in investment and retained their respective Environmental Qualification Resolutions.
The transmission line, developed by Conexión Energía, involves US$1.48 billion and will connect the regions of Antofagasta, Atacama, Coquimbo, Valparaíso and Metropolitana to transport renewable energy. The fluvial works project by the Ministry of Public Works, at US$30 million, aims to mitigate flood risks in the Copiapó River basin.
Energy Minister Ximena Rincón said the project will deliver cleaner and more affordable energy from the north to the central zone. Conexión Energía welcomed the decision and stated that the project is under construction as planned.
This was the seventh session of the committee during President Kast's administration. The Mataquito Transmisora project was not reviewed due to lack of time.
