Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the STF ordered on Friday the extension of Jair Bolsonaro's house arrest for an indefinite period. The former president must also hand over ten weapons to the Federal Police within 48 hours.
The decision came after the initial 90-day period of humanitarian house arrest granted on March 27 for health reasons. Moraes deemed the measure reasonable, adequate and proportional, keeping conditions such as ankle monitor use and social media ban.
The former president was sentenced to 27 years and three months in prison for leading a coup plot. The defense reiterated the request to maintain house arrest on Thursday, highlighting Bolsonaro's fragile health, which still includes drowsiness and fatigue.
Moraes revoked collector, sport shooter and hunter registrations, as well as the gun carry permit. Camps are banned within one kilometer of the residence in Brasília, and visits follow restricted rules.
